SCAS Inter-Counties 2026 - REPORT

BAA sent a Recurve team to the SCAS Inter-Counties 2026. Many thanks to John for the following report-

Attending the SCAS inter-county competition was the first time Matilda Lang (Little Abbey Bowmen) and John Murphy (South Bucks Archers) had joined such a high level competition and it was an honour to represent the county.

Most of the southern counties were represented, with some counties presenting a full team with all four disciplines (RC, BB, LB and Compound) and also with junior team archers, which was nice to see.

Bucks were one of nine teams in the recurve category.

The morning session began with a 72 arrow 70m qualification round, with 2 x 36 ends and a small break in between to produce a ranking table for the afternoon head to heads.

Bucks ranked 8th out of 9 ahead of Kent and were the first teams to shoot in the seniors section, the winner of the match shooting with the remaining 7 teams for the head to head.

Bucks took the match after 4 ends knocking Kent out.

In the next stage we were up against Surrey, who presented some top archers on their recurve team so took the match and proceeded to the next round so it was the end of the competition for the Bucks team.

It was a really enjoyable experience and we should do it again and encourage our other disciplines to join, so we present a larger team and have our juniors join in also. We know the venue (Andover) was a long drive, but with teams coming from Cambridge, Essex and Kent, our distance was much shorter than theirs.
